dreamer to director: my fortuitous filmmaking journey!!

From a young age, I discovered joy in weaving my thoughts, emotions and experiences through the written word, especially poetry. As an attentive observer with a vivid imagination, I found a visual voice to my stories through painting and drawing. A natural affinity to music honed with a writer’s instinct, helped me foray into musical compositions, blending narrative and melody. As a cinephile enamoured by the human psyche, the natural progression was to synthesise these art forms towards making films.

The genesis was a curtain-raiser video I conceptualized and created for my book in 2020, to convey its essence and soul to an audience far beyond my network. Circa 2023, a college project provided me the platform to create a short film alongside classmates. What began as a fortuitous endeavour earned immense love and praise across various International Film Festivals, culminating in a few awards too. A close-knit family of a mother and two daughters is shattered when a tragic accident claims the life of one. Overwhelmed by grief, the surviving sister desperately seeks a way to reconnect with her lost sibling. She persuades her mother to allow a mysterious woman to perform a forbidden ritual: transferring the deceased sister's soul into a doll, under the strict condition of adhering to two ominous rules.

As the eerie effigy becomes part of their world, a sinister undercurrent begins to seep into their lives. What follows is a descent into a terrifying realm where the lines between life and death, reality and illusion distort. 'Daughter of Delusions' is a chilling psychological horror short film exploring the depths of human grief and the perilous consequences of defying nature's laws.
